When I was 16 years old I experienced how two similar department stores could have drastically different cultures.
The first department store I worked at was very unstructured and undisciplined with few rules and no accountability. Many employees picked up on the lack of accountability and stole incredible amounts of inventory.
The second store had a store manager with stringent rules and very little empathy. The employees were simply “slaves” to be used and discarded when they were no longer useful.
Proverbs 6 teaches, “Go to the ant, O sluggard, observe her ways and be wise…she prepares her food in the summer and gathers her provision in the harvest.”
All businesses have a culture. You can let it shape itself, or you can prepare one that’s loving and fruitful.
