While staying at a beach resort, Kathy and I walked by a sign on a path that overlooked the ocean. This sign told a brief story of how the owner of the resort had attempted to build a boat slip in that spot.
The location he selected, however, was constantly battling huge waves and rough tide. After a hearty attempt, he finally concluded that his plans needed to be aborted. He couldn’t overcome the power of God’s creation that was running counter to his personal plans to finish his boat slip.
Proverbs 19:21 teaches, “Many plans are in a man’s heart, But the counsel of the Lord will stand.”
Sometimes we have plans that seem worthy to us, but without the counsel of God they will often prove fruitless.
