In high school, my journalism teacher taught that news was reporting the facts without bias. If I interjected bias into a news article, my grade suffered.
In my opinion, the craft of journalism has lost its way. The American Press Institute says, “Journalism attempts to be fair and accurate. It does this through objective methods and managing bias.”
Unbiased reporting is hard to find anymore, and it’s negatively impacting our culture.
Some industries eventually drift away from their original purpose. When we do, we can negatively impact our customers.
Philippians 2:13 says, “For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.”
God has a purpose for you and your industry. Occasionally check yourself and your industry for mission drift.
