Jealousy has caused many conflicts in the workplace. When a peer gets a promotion, it’s hard not to wonder why you didn’t get the promotion.
Even Jesus’s disciples were not immune to the temptation of jealousy. In John 21, Jesus was sharing with Peter about how Peter’s death would glorify God. When Peter saw the apostle John nearby, Peter asked Jesus, “What about him?”
Jesus wanted Peter to mind his own business and not compare himself to John. In John 21:22 Jesus said, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.”
When you’re tempted to be jealous, or compare yourself to peers, remember Jesus wants you to mind your own business and stay focused on your calling, not others.
