In the movie, “The Boys in the Boat,” the University of Washington junior varsity rowing team was struggling. Their coach was perplexed as to why his team was straining to live up to their potential.

As the coach pondered each team member’s value to the team, he wondered if some of them needed to be replaced. But the boat maker for the school had a different perspective.

The boat maker said, “Sometimes you need a little tougher coxie.” The coxie is the leader in the front of the boat who motivates and directs the team.

The coach changed the leader, and the team excelled in unity!

In Psalm 78:72 we read, “And David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them.”

Leadership matters. Choose wisely!
