In the book “Rare Leadership in the Workplace,” authors Marcus Warner and Jim Wilder contend that maturity is the core leadership quality. They define maturity as a “collection of skills and habits we develop over time.”

When thrust into leadership, our past skills of self-management are important, but incomplete. For now, we are charged with leading others as well.

Relationships are complex, especially when trying to coordinate a team of people. Experience and maturity enable us to improve our leadership skills.

Titus 2 teaches, “Encourage the young men to be self-controlled. In everything set them an example by doing what is good.”

To be a good role model and leader, one needs experience and maturity. In this series, we’ll introduce the acronym RARE, highlighted in Warner and Wilder’s new book.
