In July 1776, 56 men representing 13 colonies signed the Declaration of Independence, declaring America’s freedom from Britain. These men’s written commitment made a difference for centuries to come.
There is power in taking a stand, putting it in writing, and then having your leaders sign their commitment. In Nehemiah 9, Israel was at a turning point. After hearing the Word of God, they realized they needed to change their business practices.
In Nehemiah 9:38 we read, “Now because of all this We are making an agreement in writing; and on the sealed document are the names of our leaders, our Levites and our priests.”
Nehemiah’s covenant brought with it change and accountability. Don’t overlook the power of a written covenant the next time your team is at a crossroads.
