In a President Harry Truman biography, I remember reading that a reporter once asked President Truman, “What do you think about your father never amounting to very much?”

Truman’s retort was classic, “I don’t know that he did so bad, after all, he raised the President of the United States.”

Some people don’t fully value the unpaid work God may place before us. Yet, for some their highest success will come from whom they raise more than what they did in the workplace.

In Luke 16:15 Jesus said, “You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of others, but God knows your hearts. What people value highly is detestable in God’s sight.”

The work you do is important, but don’t undervalue what God has called others to complete.
