soccar-ball-in-goalAs we begin 2014, many of us set goals for the New Year. Budget goals, revenue goals, sales goals. Not to mention the customary personal goals of eating better, losing weight, lowering our cholesterol, and so on. Setting goals (and dreaming for that matter) can almost become routine; not something that inspires us or activates our faith. I believe our goals should scare us just a little. They should be big enough that we can’t do them on our own.

Recently, God stretched me in this area. As the head of Integrity Resource Center, I felt God had given us a goal of teaching 100,000 leaders to learn and model God’s principles in their workplace. Then a friend challenged my thinking. He didn’t believe 100,000 was a God-sized goal for us any longer!

Well, I have to admit, I had to give that some thought. And some prayer. Finally, I realized, he might be on to something. I asked our Board to pray and sure enough, they agreed. We all sensed God was challenging us to increase our goal to One Million Leaders. Although it’s more risky and required adjustments, we are confident in God’s ability!

When you think about your goals for 2014, are you playing it safe? Are your goals reasonable…or do they scare you a little? What if God desires more? Jesus said to his disciples in Matthew 19:26, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” As you establish your 2014 goals, allow God to participate in the process, and stretch your faith.

If you believed ALL things were possible this year, what goal would you set for yourself and your business?

If you are serious about making progress on your goals this year, join us Jan 23rd at the IRC Quarterly Luncheon. Speaker, John Faulkner will inspire us to put God first this year, and to build a better story for our family and our work.
