Years ago, a business owner called me all excited about our ministry and our desire to promote integrity. He invited me to tour his machine tooling business.
Amazingly, this CEO bragged about his integrity and how important ethics were to him throughout the tour. When people constantly promote their own integrity, it can be a smokescreen for trouble.
Part way through the tour, one of his employees, who knew me, pulled me aside. He warned me, “Don’t believe anything my boss tells you. He’s a crook and a liar and I’m resigning soon.”
Titus 2:7 says, “In all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds.”
When a leader’s behavior conflicts with their words, it can devastate an organization. Beware of those who don’t walk their talk.
