After 17 years at my employer, it was clear to both of us that it was time for a change. I jokingly told people we were growing apart, with the employer strongly hinting that “it was time to see other employees.”
But behind the joking was tremendous fear. After spending so many formative years at the company, I had no idea what the future held.
I might have avoided that fear if I had held tightly to Psalm 130:5: “I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.”
Change can be a terrifying prospect. But we find assurance that God intends his plans for our benefit when we put our trust in him.
God’s answer was more than I could have hoped.
