The danger of the federal government mandating a set wage is in the variety of scenarios that the minimum wage must address. Amazon’s ability to pay is much different than the small business owner who lost money last year.
The minimum wage may partially shift wealth to frontline employees, but it may also devastate the small business that is barely surviving.
James 5:4 complains against the rich when James wrote, “You have hoarded wealth in the last days. Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you.”
If God has richly blessed your business while your workers have suffered, you may need to reexamine your compensation plans before the government does. Your workers deserve to share in your gain.
