Terry Looper, author of Sacred Pace, shared with our Summit audience that early in his career his desire to please people caused him to sometimes make poor decisions. To make others happy, he occasionally made rash decisions that he would later regret.
Eventually, he implemented a simple rule to avoid those bad decisions. He refused to decide until he had waited 24 hours.
He learned that by withholding a decision for 24 hours gave him a way to step away from the pressure of the situation. It also gave him the time necessary to carefully consider the request.
Proverbs 20:25 teaches, “It is a trap to dedicate something rashly and only later to consider one’s vows.”
If you tend to make rash decisions, try Terry Looper’s 24-hour rule.
