While touring a manufacturing plant, Kevin, the plant CFO, shared with us his views on time clocks. He concluded that “time clocks can make for lazy managers.”
Instead, Kevin’s company chose to change the procedure to one where people matter more than the process. Their managers strive to know their people’s timeliness and challenges well enough that time clocks aren’t needed.
They were willing to change the past routine for the sake of a bigger purpose, caring for their team.
Romans 12:2 teaches, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is.”
Sometimes courageous leaders need to be willing to dismantle routines and patterns for a greater cause.
