Former Senator Sam Brownback was surprised to learn that his organization’s new bank account for the National Committee for Religious Freedom had been closed. JP Morgan Chase had previously opened the account without incident.Â
According to Fox Business, when Brownback asked why the account was closed, a Chase employee said the decision was secret. Later, a bank executive said they would reconsider if Brownback provided a donor list and a list of political candidates to be supported.Â
As the largest bank in America, Chase Bank’s decision, is a chilling use of leverage against religious freedom. Â
2 Timothy 3:12 says, “Everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.”Â
As Christians, persecution will happen, but at this point we still have rights we can defend.Â
