In 2001, a local CEO noticed his parking lot virtually empty at 5:00 pm and became incensed. He rashly sent an email to his executive team ranting about their poor performance.
He believed that the parking lot should be half-full on Saturday mornings and on most evenings. His email demanded that the work ethic of the company improve or otherwise there would be consequences.
His email made the front page of the Wall Street Journal, causing his company stock to plunge. It took a humble apology and hard work to reverse the damage done in that one moment.
Proverbs 12:18 teaches, “There is one who speaks rashly like the thrusts of a sword, But the tongue of the wise brings healing.”
Before you respond rashly, pause and consider possible consequences.
