During my first summer in public accounting, my CPA firm assigned me to work much of the summer in Georgia. Our Atlanta office needed dozens of staff people for a government audit.

Instead of assigning me three straight months in Georgia, they graciously allowed me to work for two weeks, then home for two weeks, throughout the summer. This enabled me to maintain my local responsibilities.

The wisest man in Scripture needed thousands of men to go to Lebanon to prepare timber for the temple.

In 1 Kings 5:14 we read, “(Solomon) sent them off to Lebanon in shifts of ten thousand a month, so that they spent one month in Lebanon and two months at home.”

When staffing out-of-town travel, be sensitive and creative to your staff’s family needs.
