In October 2008 we hosted a large Christian business event in Dallas. During that week, the stock market collapsed!
A room full of business leaders were anxious about the surprises awaiting them. Our wrap-up speaker, Henry Blackaby, wisely pivoted his scheduled message to provide a historical context of what God had been doing in our country since 9/11 and why.
He then shared a message about God’s purposes for trials and provided us hope from God’s Word.
1 Peter 4:12 says, “Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.”
When surprises come your way, remember our hope lies in the future God promised us.
