As recent “Empty-nesters,” Kathy and I decided to try to sell our house. A potential buyer made an offer subject to the typical inspections.
This buyer made me nervous from the beginning. He was going to finance the entire purchase including closing costs. This man had nothing at risk.
My instincts proved correct. When the buyer started to get “cold feet” he began manipulating the inspection process to get out of our contract.
The buyer wasted our time and money. I was reminded of a valuable lesson – Be cautious when doing business with someone who has nothing to lose.
Proverbs 13:20 teaches, “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.”
If you are entering into a contract with someone who has nothing at risk, tread carefully.
