When I was in banking, we occasionally complained about competing with credit unions and savings and loans. At least they were local, however, and we could compete using a more convenient location.

In today’s world, banks, and most other industries, are now competing with online alternatives. Leaders who refuse to seek counsel beyond their traditional industry consultants run the risk of being left behind these new online competitors.

Proverbs 19:27 teaches, “Cease to hear instruction, my son, and you will stray from the words of knowledge.”

Many industry veterans eventually believe they know all they need to know and refuse to pursue help outside their industry. If you desire to compete successfully in the future, you need to seek wisdom from those outside your industry, as well as those within.
