Many years ago, my old Malibu needed some work. I found a car repair business in a Christian directory that had a fish symbol in their advertisement. I gave them a try.
It was a horrible experience. Their level of incompetence was staggering.
When I challenged the owner, as a fellow Christian, to make it right, the owner laughed and said that he had only advertised in the Christian directory for marketing purposes!
Exodus 20:7 says, “You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.”
Many people think this command only relates to swearing. But when you use God’s name for marketing purposes, and provide poor service, you’ve violated His command. You will be held accountable.
