According to new Barna research, 99% of today’s pastors know what the word “tithe” means, but only 43% of Christians do. For the record, tithe means “a tenth, or 10%.”

God’s plan and desire for us is to remember that God owns it all. Our paycheck and wealth come from God’s grace.

What God asks is that we acknowledge that truth by being generous to His church and His causes. Although the tithe is downplayed in the New Testament, the tithe is woven throughout the Old Testament.

In Deuteronomy 14:2, God declared through Moses, “Be sure to set aside a tenth of all that your fields produce each year.”

Whether it’s from your business or your personal paycheck, God desires you to acknowledge His Lordship over your finances through generosity.
