Adam complained to his wife about his frustration in growing the church he pastors when she said, “Let me play back for you what I’ve heard from you recently. ‘You weren’t a good student, because others scored higher. You’re not a good husband because other husbands provide more. Now, you’re not a good pastor because the church isn’t large enough.’”
“Adam,” she said, “You are God’s beloved son in spite of your performance, not because of it.”
Ephesians 5 teaches, “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us.”
Our view of God impacts our work. God loved you before you were ever able to perform. Do your best and walk in God’s love regardless of your performance.
