From the way he talked, everyone in the office knew that Jonah was a Christian. He spoke about going to church, volunteering to serve meals, and what he learned from his daily Bible study. Even his name hinted at his beliefs!

But he also turned people away by how he acted. He frequently missed his commitments, gossiped about colleagues, and acted selfishly, from grabbing the last open chair in the conference room to making excuses why he couldn’t help when projects were on deadline.

1 John 3:18 says, “Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”

We need to recognize that how we act toward others communicates far more about our faith than anything we say about our church attendance.
