In a Harvard Business Review article titled “The Power of Mattering at Work,” the authors introduced a profound way to help your teammates realize that their work matters. They labeled the concept laddering.
This concept originated when NASA was trying to put a man on the moon. One of NASA’s leaders, Owen Maynard, wrote on blackboards, “Ladder to the Moon.”
Maynard broke down the steps to reach the moon by breaking down each step to an individual level. This allowed each person to feel a part of the important NASA mission and that their individual work mattered.
In 1 Corinthians 12:14, Paul said, “For the body does not consist of one member but of many.”
Each employee matters. How might laddering help your teammates feel part of your mission?
