When Kathy and I returned to church, we would throw $5 in the offering plate mostly out of guilt. As our church engagement grew, we began giving about 2% of our income to the church.
As I began studying the Bible on tithing, the Holy Spirit began convicting Kathy and I to increase our giving to 10%.
Since that time God has raised the bar for us multiple times, leading us to give far more than our tithe. We have never regretted it.
2 Corinthians 9:6 teaches about God’s response to our giving, “Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.”
If you’re wondering how much to give to God’s work, consider giving more than you currently do. You can’t outgive God!
