One of the hardest decisions an employer makes is eliminating a position or job. As a country, our small business leaders have made many hard decisions.

The question is, “Did we learn anything?” This is a time to reflect on questions such as, “Did I wait too long and why?” “Did I make the decision in a vacuum or did I have wise counsel?”

In Proverbs 24:32, the writer tells of seeing a foolish man’s vineyard overgrown with thistles and broken-down walls. He wrote, “When I saw, I reflected upon it; I looked, and received instruction.”

Reflecting on mistakes, whether they be our own or others, can be a fruitful exercise. The insights you receive will help with the next time you need to make a hard decision.
