Mister Rogers, who ministered to children through television, believed in a philosophy he called “guided drift.” He believed that God had a calling for his life, but he needed to hold it loosely so that God could direct His plan.
Originally planning to become an ordained Presbyterian minister, Mr Rogers was introduced to television. Eventually he received his ordination, but not as a pastor of a church, but instead he was ordained as a pastor over a TV program.
Ephesians 4:1 teaches, “As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.”
God has a plan for your vocation that may feel like guided drift at times. While drifting, stay connected to God. Eventually, He will reveal your calling.
