Early in our Christian journey, Kathy and I were rationalizing away any thought of increasing our giving. Then God began convicting us. So, Kathy and I made a commitment to increase our giving to 10%, which was a stretch.
Then God decided to test our commitment. Soon thereafter, Kathy quit her nursing job to care for our son. Increasing our giving certainly didn’t make sense.
But we chose to keep our commitment to God. We gave until it hurt.
In 2 Corinthians 8 the Macedonia church was experiencing a famine, yet, Paul said, “Their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability.”
