Someone I’ll call, Jim, and I were scheduled to study together our last night in college. Jim’s previous poor grades resulted in the dean requiring him to have a 3.0 grade point to be re-enrolled. Amazingly, Jim had a 4.0 going into his last final.
That’s why it was shocking when I saw Jim, with his arms full of his possessions, shouting to someone, “I can’t take the pressure. I’m going home.”
The prospect of success was too great for Jim. He dropped out of college one test away from graduating.
James 1:4 teaches, “Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
Sometimes our fears, even of success, can derail us from the work we’re called to complete. Persevere, you won’t regret it.
