If you remember the parable of the talents, the last servant made excuses for his poor performance. Although this servant blamed his mistake on fear, it could have just as easily been due to laziness.
In the workplace, you can often identify the lazy workers by their multiple excuses. Some of them can get comical.
Two of my favorites listed in Reader’s Digest include the employee who said he hurt his back chasing a beaver. Or the person who couldn’t work because their mother locked them in the closet.
Proverbs 22:13 says, “The sluggard says, “There is a lion outside! I shall be killed in the streets!”
Yes, there are legitimate excuses. But those employees who frequently make excuses for their laziness may need more time at home, permanently.
