A recent Gallup report claims that employees feel increasingly disconnected from their work. Gallup calls this trend the “Great Detachment.”
The report points to rapid organizational change, remote work challenges, broken management practices, and shifting expectations for this new era. When we – or our teams – are feeling disconnected, perhaps the best response is to recall the holy value of our work.
Paul described the high value that working for God provides: “The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.” (1 Corinthians 3:8-9)
When we’re feeling detached, remember how our daily work connects us to others and to God’s purposes.
