The book of Nehemiah has some great insights about Nehemiah’s career transition that may be helpful to us today. The second phase of Nehemiah’s journey was prayer.
After Nehemiah’s heart was broken for the city of Jerusalem, Nehemiah began praying. Although Nehemiah is very driven throughout the complete story, he prayed for four months.
In Nehemiah 1:11 we read, “O Lord, I beseech You, may Your ear be attentive to the prayer of Your servant … and make Your servant successful today and grant him compassion before this man.”
It was God’s answer to Nehemiah’s prayer that paved the way for the next phase in Nehemiah’s career transition. If you have a passion you’re pursuing that may become a new career, don’t forget the importance and power of persistent prayer.
