Denise Yohn, director of Faith & Work Journey, wrote an article for Gospel Coalition about a conference where she was asked to share the most important decision of her life. Denise’s choice to follow Christ was her most important decision, but she questioned whether she should share that publicly.
Denise realized that her reason for holding back could be due to possible idols in her life, like an unhealthy pursuit of respect, approval or acceptance. Many fear proclaiming their faith publicly, because others may persecute or treat them poorly.
1 Peter 4:16 says, “If you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.”
Do not be ashamed of your faith. Be proud of the great name of Christ that you bear.
