Former Department of Defense head, Robert Gates, was featured on 60 Minutes recently. When Anderson Cooper asked him if he believed President Biden would ever admit to being wrong in how he withdrew us from Afghanistan, Gates laughed.
He said, “I’ve worked for eight Presidents, and I’ve never heard any of them admit to being wrong.” When asked if they should have admitted their mistakes, Gates replied, “Yes. It would give them more credibility.”
Many leaders feel that to admit their mistakes is a sign of weakness.
Numbers 5:6 teaches, “Any man or woman who wrongs another in any way and so is unfaithful to the Lord is guilty and must confess the sin they have committed.”
Confessing your mistakes is good leadership and adds credibility to your leadership.
