One case that had unanimous Supreme Court consent last term was shockingly a religious liberty case involving Gerald Goff, a postal worker. Gerald had been given Sunday’s off for years, but then his boss refused, leaving him to battle for his religious freedom.
The Supreme Court ruled unanimously that the burden on an employer for complying with someone’s religious request needs to be “substantial” before they can deny an employee’s request.
Exodus 20:10 says, “But the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant…”
This is a significant victory for those employees who desire to worship God one day a week without being penalized at work.
