My new friend, Andy, was leading a training with a company on how they can better hire and value the disabled. The diversity of thought and value they can bring to a workplace is often overlooked.

Andy asked the group to draw a star. Everyone in the class except one person drew a star as they might see in the sky at night.

One person, however, who was on the autism spectrum, drew a picture of Lady Gaga and proudly proclaimed that she is a star.

He wasn’t wrong, he just thought differently.

1 Corinthians 12:4 teaches, “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them.”

If we truly want to serve all customers well, it will likely require that we also hire those who think differently.
