As a leader, there are times when I must referee between two staff members who have a dispute with each other. I remember years ago, I had an employee who voiced a legitimate complaint about another employee.
This person provided a lot of compelling information against their co-worker. Their story was so convincing that I sided with them and told them I would take care of the issue.
But then, the other employee shared their version of the story. My previously proposed solution was not going to resolve the underlying issues appropriately.
Proverbs 18:17 teaches, “The one who states his case first seems right, until the other comes and examines him.”
I learned a valuable lesson. There are two sides to every story. Listen to both before making commitments.
