Listen to the latest 60 second episode of Integrity Moments with Rick Boxx
Integrity Moments is a 60 second workday devotional that provides business leaders with helpful insight into what the Bible says about our work and how we can fully integrate our faith into our vocational calling.

Sometimes the best nuggets of wisdom are found immediately after interviewing someone. Recently, I was video interviewing Scooters Coffee franchisee, Tracy Bouwens.

After we finished, we discussed some common challenges of managing employees. Tracy told me that a common refrain in her workplace is, “Being unclear is unkind.”

Tracy mentioned those times when we avoid hard conversations because we’re afraid to hurt an employee’s feelings. But Tracy pointed out that it seems more harmful in the long run to avoid truth and clarity.

In Ephesians 4:25, Paul wrote, “Having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.”

When you’re struggling with whether or not to tackle a hard issue, remember, Tracy’s motto of “being unclear is unkind.”
