Over the years I’ve gotten to know many wealthy business leaders. I’ve wondered why some are generous, while others are not.

One of the answers comes from a recent survey conducted by the American Bible Study. This study determined that 94% of people whom they call “scripture engaged” gave to charity a median amount of $2000 annually.

This is in stark contrast to those labeled as “scripture disengaged.” Only 43% of the scripture disengaged give to charity at all. Why is that?

Hebrews 4:12 teaches, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

God’s Word changes behavior and encourages us to be more generous.
