At a conference I attended, Ken Reeves, a human resource expert, shared lessons he’s learned in life. One profound insight he shared made my time there worthwhile.

You’ve probably heard the adage, “It’s not what you know, but who you know.” Ken expanded that phrase to, “It’s not only who you know, but also who knows you.”

I was convicted by Ken’s insight. I’m a good listener, and I know lots of people, but I suspect few feel they know me well. I need to be willing to share more about myself.

In John 10:14, Jesus said, “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me.”

Relationships must be a two-way street. Those we lead, need to know us as much as we know them.
