Listen to the latest 60 second episode of Integrity Moments with Rick Boxx
In her book, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, Maya Angelou said one should be “hoping for the best, prepared for the worst and unsurprised by anything in-between.”
In most business environments, positive thinking and hoping for the best are talked about, as is being prepared for the future. But being unsurprised is seldom talked about.
The concept of being unsurprised is grounded in our faith and valuable for business.
We learn from scripture in 1 Peter 4:12 we should not be, “surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you.”
If the current events of our world have caused many to shake their heads in surprise, it’s important to recognize that living unsurprised cultivates a mindset to hope and plan.
