Our small group at church was discussing a bible study developed by our senior pastor. In this study, the pastor shared openly of some of his personal struggles.
Several in my small group expressed their appreciation for our pastor’s transparency. His vulnerability led to our group members sharing more openly about their own struggles.
Transparency in leadership is a powerful tool that is often underutilized because of our fear of appearing weak.
In 1 Corinthians 9:22, Paul wrote, “To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some.”
To be transparent may come with some risks, but the benefits of connecting with others in a deeper way is well worth the risk.
