According to a 2023American Psychology Association study, 26% of workers claim to have experienced feelings of loneliness and isolation. Curiously, if you work in customer or patient service work, that feeling of loneliness soars to 35%.
You would think that loneliness would not be an issue for those engaging with people all day, but it is. If you field complaints or customer demands daily one can feel as though you're fighting a battle alone.
Matthew 9:36 teaches, "When (Jesus) saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd."
As employers, I think it would be helpful to keep in mind that your frontline customer service people may need even more care and support than others on your team.
