Listen to the latest 60 second episode of Integrity Moments with Rick Boxx
In this series, we’re pondering the Ten Commandments. Many small businesses can be devastated when these commands are violated.
For example, if you want to ruin a restaurant, spread rumors about seeing mice or cockroaches in their kitchen. Or, if you want to better your chances for a promotion, begin a whisper campaign slandering your rival’s character.
But, Exodus 20:16 teaches, “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.”
As Christians, we are to build people up rather than tear them down. Lies and gossip may be common in the marketplace, but Christians should act like Christians.
When you catch yourself spreading rumors, gossip or lies about a peer, or even a competitor, go to your victim and ask forgiveness. Then do what you can to make it right.
