Jenny had a major decision to make about a new direction for the department she led. To help make sure she made the best decision, she embarked on an extended exercise of seeking input from others on what she should do. Unfortunately, she talked to so many people, with so many opinions, that she realized the diverse and sometimes conflicting perspectives actually made her less confident in how she should proceed.
The Psalmist wrote, “Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.” (Psalm 42:5)
Gathering input from wise counselors is a wise move. But seeking and prioritizing God’s direction is the smartest move we can make.
