In his book, “A Man After God’s Own Heart,” Jim George tells a story of an army officer in India who stopped to have his shoes shined by a poor boy on the street. The boy approached the task with such intensity and enthusiasm that the officer was amazed. He asked the boy why he was so fervent in his task.
The boy responded, “Last week Jesus came into my heart and now I belong to him. Since then, every time I shine someone’s shoes, I keep thinking they’re his, so I want to do the very best I can.”
Colossians 3:2 says, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
We honor God when we do our work for him first and foremost.
