Listen to the latest 60 second episode of Integrity Moments with Rick Boxx
In this series, we’re highlighting the enemies of building trust in your business. The first enemy is hyperbole. Merriam-Webster dictionary defines hyperbole as, “language that describes something as better or worse than it really is.”
We all want to favorably promote our products or services, but many resort to extreme exaggerations or hyperbole. Customers are savvy enough to know the difference between when you are promoting only the positives of your product and when you’ve crossed the line into hyperbole.
Hyperbole will undermine your credibility and your customer’s trust in your product.
Proverbs 14:5 teaches, “An honest witness does not deceive, but a false witness pours out lies.”
Be proud of your products, but don’t deceive customers with hyperbole. To do so will undermine the trust they have in your brand.
