At 7:30 am there was a loud knock on our front door. We had scheduled an 8:00 start to have our carpet replaced, but when I opened the door, three men charged in ready to work.
The man in charge began directing his guys with an urgency I hadn’t seen in some time. Twenty minutes later, I marveled at what had already been accomplished.
These men had moved all the furniture, torn out all the existing carpet, and had already scraped the floors. Their diligence was amazing, and I suspect more profitable for them financially.
Proverbs 3:14 says, “The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied.”
In our culture today, diligence is a rare commodity that can provide significant gain.
