As a banker, I had a loan assigned to me that bank examiners had rated as a problem. Soon thereafter, my boss wanted me to loan this customer more money.

When I objected, I learned that this customer was my boss’ friend and business partner. My boss had a conflict of interest.

By loaning this person more money I would have become involved in an unethical situation, that I suspected was going to get worse. My boss wasn’t happy, but I refused to make the loan.

The entire loan later became uncollectable.

2 Timothy 3:13 says, “But evil people and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.”

If you’re faced with a bad situation, take a stand early on; it will only get worse later.
